Organized Excel Files & Pothos Plants
The past month has been a lot of the same. Applying to every open job post in my field, and then some. My excel spreadsheet has gotten quite long. A friend of mine remarked that I have mastered the art of applying to jobs. A well-executed and organized list just waiting for the rejection column to remain unchecked. This isn't my first time job searching for a "career" position, but it has been a couple of years. I do remember from the last time that it took a while to get a first interview, then a second, then a final interview with a job offer. So, I knew going into this process that it wouldn't be quick. Each application I submit holds the promise of a fabulous opportunity. Some are downtown, where I imagine the public transit commute to be enjoyable - having my morning coffee and scrolling through social media. Some are in the burbs, where I imagine the short, drivable commute to be a breeze - quite possibly mapping out where I would stop for coffee along the way. Each position has positives that I can quickly see. I am chomping at the bit to get back to work. I miss doing what I went to school to do. I know the right opportunity will come along, and I am so excited for it to happen! In the mean time, I am being gentle with myself, checking in with family and friends, and choosing peace. I look forward to when I have exciting news to share! My mindfulness techniques are helping tremendously to stay grounded and focused during the waiting period. I refuse to give up and I wholeheartedly believe there are many wonderful things on the horizon.
On a side note, I participated in my first local plant pick-up this week! I picked up some Pothos clippings. I don't have any plants going at the moment, and I have no "planting things". Well, I might have some in storage, but that's another project. It was such an impulse pick-up, I couldn't pass it up! I have been low-key searching for low-light house plants for a few weeks now. When I got back, I threw the clippings into water hoping they will start to root. Now I have to decide how I want to up-cycle a container to turn it into a planter, and then I need to get some dirt! I have an idea of how I want to set it up - so this will be a fun little project for me to put together. Once I put it together, I will post pictures and show you how it's doing! Planting/gardening is such a good way to mitigate stress and anxiety. Not only is it a constructive hobby, but there is an extra component to getting your hands dirty. There are bunches of microbes packed in dirt, so when you breathe those in, you are literally breathing in calm. How neat is that?!
Thank you so much for reading my blog - I'll keep you posted!
Mindfully,
~Amanda
